20th September, 2018 (Thursday) – Strangers need Commandments

By: Mensah Timothy Vincent

Psalms 119:19“I am a stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me.”

We as strangers on earth would mess up; unless the Lord graces us with His commandments. In the Old Testament, God gave His Commandments to the Israelites in order for them to be on track. In this generation, God has graced us with His Spirit who teaches us all things.

The question is, do you realise you’re a stranger on earth? Do you realise how much and well you need the Spirit? I didn’t ask “have you realised…”, I asked “do you realise…” In every hour and day of our lives, we need to be drawn back to this consciousness. Consistently realising that you’re a stranger on earth will keep you desire the leading of the Spirit in order not to go astray. It’s the leading of God’s Spirit that will direct our path in all aspects of life, without this, we’ll always live in regret. In this generation, the Lord has made the Holy Spirit available unto all who ask.

May we be people who will always be conscious about who we are and be led by the Spirit. I pray for more understanding concerning this. Grace be with us all.

19th September, 2018 (Wednesday) – Crossing & Possessing

By: Mensah Timothy Vincent

Deuteronomy 11.31“For you will cross over the Jordan and go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and you will possess it and dwell in it.”

There’s a daily target for every mankind; to cross “the Jordan” and go into “the land” to possess it. Crossing the Jordan is to overcome the daily challenges and Possessing the land is to please God. Each day’s walk with God is similar to journeying from Egypt to the promise land; and we need to make sure we at the end “possess the land” (please God). At the end of each day, we should judge our day to see if we could please God.

Immediately we wake up from bed, it’s more or less like we’re in Egypt and we’re about to set off to the promise land (pleasing God). The enemy brings in a lot of challenges and we encounter many obstacles in our daily life but God desires us to stay focus and overcome every challenge. We need to depend on the leading of the Spirit to overcome these challenges in order to please God; we need to pay conscious attention by being on guard. Today is a new day, will you cross your Jordan and Possess the land? May God grace you with strength.

18th September, 2018 (Tuesday) – Seventy times Seven = LOVE

By: Mensah Timothy Vincent

Matthew 18.21-22

Is there the need to count the number of times we render forgiveness to people? Peter desired to know the number of times he should forgive someone who sins against him and Jesus said, seventy times seven. How do you understand this?

In Daniel 9:24, something very relevant is recorded. It says, Seven times seventy years is the length of time God has set for freeing your people”. This verse may be explained in many ways but today, I want us to understand that it is a symbolic prophecy concerning the redemption Jesus shall give or has given to mankind; and we know that, this redemption came from LOVE.

Now, Jesus told Peter to forgive seventy times seven not in terms of counting, but to refer to the suffering He (Jesus) will go through to FORGIVE man in order to free us from sin and out of LOVE will gain us to be God’s people. This makes us aware that, if someone sins against us, we shouldn’t worry about how many times we need to forgive them; all we need to do is to apply the LOVE Jesus has shown unto us. We need not to captivate any brother or sister in anger since God has freed us all. We need not to hold on to any grudge. All we need to apply is LOVE. Seventy times seven is Love; let love lead. May God give us deeper understanding concerning this.

17th September, 2018 (Monday) – God was with Him

By: Takyi Y. Benedict

Acts 10:38 – “About Jesus of Nazareth, how God gave the Holy Spirit to him, with power: and how he went about doing good… for God was with him” [BBE]

Have you ever been ‘blessed’ with an opportunity to pay someone in their own coin? Have you ever found yourself in a very terrible situation that the temptation to do wrong was irresistible? Well, the word of God says in Hebrews 4:15, that Jesus Christ was tempted at every point like us and yet was without sin. We see from the head text once again that He went about doing good because God was with Him.

“God was with Him”, that was all He needed to walk the way of the Lord. We too as joint heirs with Christ and his brethren do not have a different story, hence the motivation is the same; the truth that God is with us. Not with us with a big cane to wack your head the moment you go wrong, but with you as a loving father whose thoughts and provision towards you is perfect continually. Why would you bother to repay another man with evil when God, your father, stands with you to comfort and love you? Even the loneliness that leads people to stray into all manner of immorality is removed the moment we understand the truth of His presence with us.
Emmanuel…!!!

16th September, 2018 (Sunday) – BE WISE: Look Ahead And Face Reality

By: Tetteh Patience

Proverbs 14:8 – “The wise man looks ahead. The fool attempts to fool himself and won’t face facts” [TLB]

Many people in life start out well, but they end up progressing poorly because they don’t plan for the pitfalls. But the Bible says the wise person looks ahead and faces reality.

As we make plans for our future, we all face pitfalls, such as cultural distractions, voices of doubt, tempting shortcuts, and discouraging delays. Just look at Noah: He faced a variety of obstacles after God told him to build the ark, but he overcame them — and you can, too.

Now, this doesn’t mean God will give you a goal as audacious as building an ark, but I pray he’ll give you a big goal — even an audacious one — for your next 10 years.

The Bible says, “The wise man looks ahead. The fool attempts to fool himself and won’t face facts” (Proverbs 14:8 TLB). By looking ahead, we’ll not only be prepared to spot the pitfalls when they come into our lives, we’ll also be equipped to make plans that help us become the person God wants us to be.

Ask God to help you establish goals for the next decade of your life. Then you’ll be ready to move forward and learn how to handle the pitfalls that could potentially keep you from getting where God wants you to go. Amen!

4th December, 2017 (Monday) – We Give God Glory

By: Takyi Benedict Yankyerah

Psalm 8:1,4 – O Jehovah our Lord, how mighty thy name in all the earth! who will set thy majesty over the heavens. Out of the mouth of children and sucklings thou hast founded strength on account of thine enemies, to cause the enemy and the avenger to cease. For I shall see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers; the moon and the stars which thou didst prepare. What is man that thou wilt remember him? and the son of man that thou wilt review him?

This world is darkness and Bible clearly states that the god of it is Satan; nothing good could be expected out of it. And we the men in it…, same story. Paul rightly puts that even we believer were darkness and are now become light through the work Christ came to do. Hallelujah. However this is what even the stars, the Sun and moon, even the angels can’t fathom; how out of such darkness, and ungodliness, and troubles, and persecution and destruction in the world there are still a people who cause the name of the Lord to be mighty here on earth. God is awesome, the angels ministering before Him can’t help it but cry Holy and fall down in worship.

But we, in so depraved a place, how we sing and make shouts of joy unto Him who is in heaven, beats the imagination of the angels so that they ask, who is man? Beloved God doesn’t despise your voice one moment, neither is He ashamed of you for the wrongs you do but rather He takes glory from your rising up and your praise and your heart of love for Him, that you still trust Him when all is lost. He sees your pain and all you go through and He can’t hold it when through all that, you still are able to lift your hands in glory. That thing silences the devil, and sets the angels even to thinking. Your are God’s glory here on earth, His treasured possession. Never settle for anything less.

Shalom.

3rd December, 2017 (Sunday) – Seek To Know

By: Tetteh patience

Our main text (Proverbs 24:5) informs us that to increase in strength, one must always be after knowledge because the truth you know will set you free when you encounter mountains in life.

Your knowledge of who you are in God and His provisions for your victory are evident in God’s word. Knowledge is the reason why two different Christians would react very differently to the same harassment of the devil.

Their reaction to the attacks and wiles of the devil is dependent on the amount of strength each possesses; and knowledge is the source of strength. [If] thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength [is] small. – Proverbs 24:10

Seek to know and receive divine strength against any mountain that will hinder your destiny. May God bless His Word. Amen!

2nd December, 2017 (Saturday) – STAY ALERT

By: Appiah Alice Adomah

2 Peter 1:12-13 – “For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you”

When building a bonfire, you will need to visit the fire site every little while to stoke the fire by adding wood. Failure to do this means the fire will soon die out. This analogy applies to knowledge. When you lay a hold on a body of truth, you have to constantly re-visit it so you don’t go senile on it. The secret to retention is reminder. That is what we see Peter doing in the text before us. The saints of God had been instructed in the truth of the Kingdom. Jesus had been shown expressly as the door to the everlasting Kingdom. Receiving Him by faith created access for them; and continuing in good work would be the basis of their reward in the Kingdom. They knew all of these before; but they were being reminded so the knowledge will remain active in their lives and not be consigned to the residual department of their brains.

The only way to stay at the cutting edge of any truth is to visit it again and again. The moment we notice a lull in any area let us read up on it. Listen to teachings in that area to have your spirit stirred up again. There is no better time to study prayer than when you begin to see it as drudge rather than a glorious privilege to meet with the God of the universe. When you are finding it hard to stay faithful in your financial obligations towards God and His work, you need someone through teaching or writing to stir you up. Endeavour never to allow any aspect of your life to go into the doldrums. Stay alert in the spirit! Shalom

1st December, 2017 (Friday) – The Heart of Man

By: Amankwatia Emmanuella

Jeremiah 17:9-10 – “The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it? The LORD search the heart, [I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings”

The verse above gives description about the nature of the heart of man. It states that the heart of man is deceitful and wicked above all things but when God wants to reward us, He first search through our hearts then test our minds and base on that He rewards us according to our ways and the fruit of our deeds.

Before we can receive from God, the contents of our heart must please God. The contents of our heart will please God only when our spirit is right with God. Our heart and spirit can be right with God only when the word of God is living and is active in us. For the word of God discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). That is why David said “I have stored up you words in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). When our spirit is right with God, the fruit of the Spirit will exhibit itself.

Let us long for a spirit that is right with God that our heart of stone will be replaced with a heart of flesh.

Prayer: Create in me a clean heart, Lord and renew a right spirit within me.
