By: CMDAR Writers.

In the previous readers on this topic we explained what Spiritual gifts are about and also gave examples if them. We as well gave the scriptures which speak about it. Visit this link to get access to the previous topics —> https://christiansmessage.wordpress.com/additional-readers/

Today, we want to explain the functions of some of the Spiritual gifts.

1. APOSTLE: The word “Apostle” comes from the Greek word ‘Apostolos’ meaning “a messenger” or “sent forth with order”. Apostles were the first leaders of the church (1 Corinthians 12:28, Ephesians 4:11). They were commissioned by Jesus to initiate and direct the preaching of the Gospel. Many Christians believes the office of the Apostle exist no more while others believe it exist.

2. PROPHET: In the New Testament, the office of the Prophet is second only to the office of the Apostle (1 Corinthians 12:28). The prophet’s corresponding gift is Prophecy. Prophecy is ‘reporting something God has spontaneously bring to your mind’. Many, especially Pentecostal and Charismatics, distinguish between the office of Prophet and the gift of Prophecy, believing that a Christian can possess the gift of Prophecy without holding the Prophetic office.

3. EVANGELIST: An Evangelist is one who devotes himself to preaching the Gospel. In the New Testament, evangelists preached from city to city, church to church.

4. PASTOR: The word was derived from the Greek word for ‘Shepherd’. Pastors are gifted to lead, guide and to set example for other Christians. The grammatical structure of Ephesians 4:11 leads many Christians to Conclude that Teacher and Pastor should be considered one term Pastor-Teacher. Even so, the two terms are not interchangeable, while all Pastors are Teachers but not all Teachers are Pastors.

5. TEACHER: Someone who gives his/her life to preaching and teaching of the Christian Faith.

6. GIVING: People with this gifts share their possessions with others with an extraordinary generosity. All Christians should be givers but those with this gift goes beyond normal GIVING.

Many other gifts are left to be discussed. To get more details on the explaination of the gifts, please visit ADDITIONAL READERS page on http://www.christiansmessage.wordpress.com

Stay blessed and share with all.
