By: O. Samuel
Hello God’s people, we bless our Lord and Saviour today again for providing us this gift of life. May we be grateful for His mercies and kindness toward us. Today’s message teaches us about discovering our gift(s). Let us read these verses from the KJV Bible:
Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Rphesians 4:11 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;” Ephesians 4:12 “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
2 Timothy 4:5 “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”
We can see from the verses above that the Bible is talking about the grace given to every believer according to the measure of his or her gift, and hence using them in our Church life. The last verse tells us to fulfil our ministry. Without one knowing his or her gifts, this ministry cannot be fulfilled. The ministry here is basically the service for the Lord. The third verse clearly tells us the use of these gifts; Each one of us is given gift(s) to promote the work of the Lord, perfect the saints and promote the Church.
Are we utilising these gifts? If we are not then we are wasting these precious rewards the Lord has given unto us. What the Lord expects from us as His workmanship is that we should use our gifts for the growth and edification of the Church in one way or the other. He expects us to serve Him in His Church. It is high time we discover these gifts the Lord has given to us inorder to fulfil our ministry. These gifts are not two or three, they are a lot of which each believer possesses a part. Let us pray to the Lord daily to cause us to discover our gifts and use them effectively in our Church life. May the Lord grace us all more and more. God bless you. Amen.
