Praise the Lord brethren. This is the day the Lord has made, therefore we need to rejoice and be glad in it.
Yesterday we were able to know something about God’s eternal forgiveness for us. Today we move on to learn about another type of forgiveness which is the ‘Borrowed forgiveness’. Let us read John 20:22-23 from the ASV Bible. “And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit; whose soever sins ye forgive, they are are forgiven unto them; whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained”.

Here the Lord gives His Holy Spirit to the Church so that she may represent Him on earth and be His vessel to forgive people’s sins. Borrowed forgiveness is God forgiving people’s sins through the Church. Whenever a saint sees a person who has truly believed, he or she can tell him, “today you have received the Lord; now you may thank God for He has already forgiven your sins”. The Lord borrows the hand of the Church to declare whose sins are forgiven and whose sins are retained.

So for a saint to exercise this authority, he or she needs to preach the Gospel to the unbelievers and in getting them saved, this exercise is said to be done. Therefore at this moment, the Gospel needs to be preached across the world in order to get God’s forgiveness unto man through the Church. God bless You.

Please share a word with the world.
