His ascension overcame Satan

Sat, 12th Mar, 2016

Praise the Lord, you who were bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. We have been redeemed and set free from the things of this world because our God is mighty and also rich in mercy. Glory be unto His name forever and ever.

Today we learn something about the power in the ascension of Christ which overcame the enemy for over 2000 years ago. Please let us read these verses from the KJV Bible.

Ephesians 1:20-21. “Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”
Ephesians 2:6.”And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.

Let us therefore observe this: that it is not the Lord Jesus alone whose manifestation destroys the works of the devil. By reading Eph 2:6 we see that we too were raised up with Christ and were made to sit with Him in the heavenly places. All the children of God share in this greatness of the Lord. So the point of conflict between us and Satan lies not in the struggle to win, but rather in strife to avoid defeat-for Christ has already won for us.

Many of us have mistaken the concept of war with Satan. We wrongly think that we must fight in order to win. Such an idea reveals a lack of understanding of what the gospel is. We fight because we have already won. Our Lord Jesus has already defeated the enemy. Therefore Satan’s battle today is to recover, ours is to retain. We do not fight in order to occupy; we protect what we have already occupied.
The question then is not victory, for Satan is already defeated. The Lord and the Church have overcome. Our aim therefore is not to wrestle victory from Satan but rather to keep victory from being robbed by Satan.

May God fill our hearts with faith; believing that we have already defeated the devil and that from now on we will fear him no more. God bless you. Amen.
