By: O. Samuel

Beloved, let us praise the Lord again this day for taking absolute care of us throughout the nights of sleep. He deserves our thanksgiving and praises. Today, we learn something about resisting the devil and his deceitful plans. We shall continue this message in the subsequent days because it contains more of the truth.

Please let us read these verses from the ASV Bible:
1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.”
2 Corinthians 2:11 “That no advantage may be gained over us by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

These two verses indicate to us how full of evil devices Satan is. His basic work is to disguise himself in whatever he does so that we will not know it is his doing. In order for a Christian to walk well before God, he must learn of how to resist Satan and in order for him to do that, he must discern that which is the work of Satan. Remember that many sins are first committed in the imaginations of the mind. Satan operates in the thoughts and imaginations of man. Sometimes many of us do not recognize such thoughts as the works of Satan.

How are we to resist him; the enemy? Anytime we experience such thoughts, we must say, “I do not want this thought. I return it to you, Satan.” Should he accept it, it becomes his own thought. We need to learn how to resist such evil thoughts, however, we should also be careful lest we become over attentive to it. If one is concentrating on his thoughts, his eyes will not be focusing on the Lord. We must indeed resist such evil thoughts, yet we should not be wholly occupied with our thoughts. Let us learn more in the next days, but even while we wait, may we pray and watch the more.

May we be vigilant in these last days because the devil is working in many deceitful ways. I pray for more grace for us to stand firm in the truth of God. Amen.

Please share a word with the world.
