By: O. Samuel

We praise the name of our keeper and provider for all the good things He has done in our lives. Glory and honour be unto His name forever and ever. Today we continue with how to resist the devil. Please let us read Philippians 4:8 from the ASV Bible.
” Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

The Bible tells us to think on these things. As God’s children we should learn to engage our thoughts in positive thinking. The more we use our minds positively, the less our thoughts will be out of control. Many are unable to control their thoughts because they do not think of such things the Bible talks about; they are passive in their thought life. This gives Satan an opportunity to insert some of his many ready-made thoughts into their minds.

Once our minds are unoccupied and idle, they get opened for Satan’s infiltration. Because of this, we need to exercise our minds as we exercise our bodies. We must learn to recognize what thoughts are unclean, slanderous and divisive, and learn to resist them as soon as they are discovered to be from the enemy. Many evil thoughts can be resisted. Some thoughts though are quite subtle and therefore not easily resisted, however we must learn to resist all of them.

May God grant us more grace to learn to resist all the thoughts of the evil one. God bless you. Amen.
