Good morning brethren, we thank the Lord so much for His faithfulness shown in our lives and also making it possible for us to see this day. Today we learn something about our spiritual growth. Please let us read these verses from the KJV Bible.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” – John 12:24
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby.” – 1 Peter 2:2
Basically, our spiritual growth depends on our relationship with the Lord. The more we get closer and relate with the Lord, the more we grow in Him. Getting closer to the Lord means that we need to stay away from sin; because sin is one aspect that separates us from God.
Just as the corn of wheat in the first verse, we also have to die before we grow. This death is the spiritual death and it is the death to the world and to sin. Once we become dead to sin, we gain the life of Christ. The more we die to sin, the more we grow spiritually in Christ. Our ability to endure all afflictions also enables us to grow spiritually in Him.
As we saw yesterday, our spiritual growth also depends on the reading of the Bible. The Bible contains life and that is the life of Christ. The more we read and live with God’s word, the more we gain this life of Christ into us, thus making us grow more spiritually in Him.
Our maturity in the Lord determines how far we have gone with the Lord.
May the Lord grant us more grace to learn more on how to grow spiritually in Him.
Please share a word with the world.
